Aurangabad Name Change :Maharashtra state Government has Approved Name Change Of Aurangabad To shambhajinagar And Osmanabad To Dhara Shiv
The Maharashtra state government on Wednesday renamed two important cities in the state, Aurangabad, and Osmanabad, to name them Sambhaji Nagar and Dhara Shiv, respectively. It has also approved naming the international airport at Navi Mumbai after the late farmer leader DB Patil. Congress supported this demand. The Maharashtra State Planning Agency (CIDCO) had suggested naming the airport after Bala saheb Thackeray.
The decision to rename these two important cities in Maharashtra was taken at a time when Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena government is facing a revolt from most of its MLAs. Aurangabad was named after Aurangzeb. Even after the Shiv Sena formed a government backed by the NCP and the Congress, the BJP recalled its old demand to Aurangabad Name Change.
“This is a noble example of cheap politics,” said AIMIM Muslim leader Imtiaz Jalil, criticizing the Renaming of Aurangabad and Osmanabad by the Uddhav in government. He further said that the MVA government used the name of Sambhaji Maharaj for political gain.
